Fuel System, Other:storage:tank Assembly 2012-09-25 · campaign 12V468000 · 435 vehicles
Defect: The Vehicle Production Group (VPG) is recalling certain model year 2011 and 2012 MV-1 vehicles, equipped with a compressed natural gas (CNG) engine. The pressure relief plug for the CNG storage tank may be incorrectly assembled.
Risk: If the plug is incorrectly assembled, it may inadvertently discharge the CNG. A CNG leak in the presence of an ignition source may ignite and result in a vehicle fire.
Fix: The Vehicle Production Group will notify owners, and dealers will install a secondary pressure relief device on each vehicle to prevent leaking, free of charge. The safety recall began on November 13, 2012. Owners may contact the Vehicle Production Group at 1-877-681-3678.
Service bulletins (3)
Technical service bulletins are repair instructions manufacturers send dealers for known issues. Unlike recalls, the fix is not automatically free — but naming the bulletin at the service desk can save diagnosis time and support goodwill repairs.
