Defect: Lakota Corporation (Lakota) is recalling certain model year 2016 Bighorn and Charger recreational vehicles manufactured from March 5, 2015, through March 20, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the screws that attach the expanding room to the sliding mechanism cable may fail allowing the room to extend unintentionally while the vehicle is in motion.
Risk: If the room extends while vehicle is in motion, there is an increased risk of a crash.
Fix: Lakota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the bolts, free of charge. The recall began on April 8, 2016. Owners may contact Lakota customer service at 1-574-848-1636.
Service bulletins (2)
Technical service bulletins are repair instructions manufacturers send dealers for known issues. Unlike recalls, the fix is not automatically free — but naming the bulletin at the service desk can save diagnosis time and support goodwill repairs.
