Defect: Terex south Dakota, Inc. (Terex) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Terex C4000, C5000, C6000, and General digger derricks. The welds between the coupler and hex shaft may be undersized, causing them to fail and the auger to fall unexpectedly.
Risk: If the auger falls, it can increase the risk of injury to the user or bystanders.
Fix: Terex will notify owners, and dealers will either repair the weld or replace the affected component, free of charge. The recall began October 3, 2018. Owners may contact Terex customer service at 1-605-882-4000. Terex's number for this recall is SN665.
Service bulletins (3)
Technical service bulletins are repair instructions manufacturers send dealers for known issues. Unlike recalls, the fix is not automatically free — but naming the bulletin at the service desk can save diagnosis time and support goodwill repairs.
