2022 Blue Bird Vision School Bus (Electric) problems, complaints & recalls

Defect: Blue Bird Body Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2018-2024, 2026 Vision and All American Electric school buses. The high voltage battery system mounting bolts may be loose or missing.

Risk: A high voltage battery with loose or missing mounting bolts can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will inspect and reinstall bolts with thread locker. Damaged or missing bolts will be replaced. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Defect: Blue Bird Body Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2021-2024 and 2026-2027 Vision School Bus (Electric), and 2023-2027 Vision School Buses. The 12V power wire on one of the harnesses may become damaged and short circuit.

Risk: An electrical short can cause a disruption to safety functions such as a loss of rear lighting or instrument panel warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will add an in-line fuse and repair the wire harnesses as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 7, 2026. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242. Blue Bird's number for this recall is R26AG.

Defect: Blue Bird Bus Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2019-2027 Vision and All American school buses. A loose 12-volt cable may disconnect, causing a loss of electrical systems.

Risk: A loss of brake assist, drive power, steering assist, or instrument panel displays can increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will inspect, add a torque stripe, and properly tighten the 12-volt cable as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 17, 2026. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242.

Defect: Blue Bird Bus Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Vision electric school buses equipped with hydraulic brakes. The system software may fail to detect and alert the driver to a loss of the secondary brake assist.

Risk: Driving the bus without a functioning secondary brake assist increases the risk of a crash.
