Defect: McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2010-2024 Rear Loader vehicles. The license plate light was installed in the wrong location and may not fully illuminate the license plate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Risk: An improperly illuminated license plate reduces the vehicle's visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will relocate the light free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 2, 2024. Owners may contact McNeilus Customer Service at 1-888-686-7278.
Service bulletins (9)
Technical service bulletins are repair instructions manufacturers send dealers for known issues. Unlike recalls, the fix is not automatically free — but naming the bulletin at the service desk can save diagnosis time and support goodwill repairs.
